Troubleshooting

Browser and System Requirements

Trailer Tracks requires at a minimum:

  • Browser: IE 8 and 9 are no longer supported by the Services Portal applications. Customers must use IE10, IE11, Edge, Firefox, or Chrome when using Services Portal applications (QTRACS, Performance Monitoring, Trailer Tracks, Fleet Mapping, GeoServices, and Administration), with minor exceptions such as the traffic layer not being supported in IE10.
  • Additional software: Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print reports (www.adobe.com)
Trailer Tracks screens don't display correctly.
It is recommended that you disable pop-up blockers and not install extra toolbars as these applications can cause unexpected results. Open just one browser window for Trailer Tracks software (not including the help).
I can't view or print reports
Download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Geofences

The geofence I created isn't the size I specified.
When you display units in miles, Trailer Tracks software stores the number of miles in kilometers, then converts back to miles. Displayed miles are slightly different from the number that you entered, for example, 100 miles displays as 100.5 miles.
Equipment is generating geofence alerts, but it hasn't moved.
Because GPS accuracy is about 300', you may receive alerts for equipment that is within 300' of the edge of a geofence, even if it hasn't moved. To eliminate those alerts, you can suppress messages within a certain radius when equipment is not moving.

Navigation

Tab key causes an error.
A runtime error sometimes results when you use the Tab key to move the cursor. To prevent this error, use the mouse to move the cursor.
My bookmark/shortcut doesn't open the right page.
You can create a bookmark or shortcut for most pages in Trailer Tracks software, but you might not always go to the correct page when you click the link. You should always go to the main Trailer Tracks screen and use the navigation provided to go to the page you want to view.
Pressing the Enter key doesn't submit the form.
You cannot press Enter to submit a form within this web site. Instead click the Save button or text.

Terminal Parameters/Settings Mismatch

Terminal parameters don't match terminal settings.
Terminal parameters are updated when you edit the trailer details, and are sent to the terminal at the next scheduled status update. Ping the terminal to send the parameters immediately.
The SCAC was changed at the terminal, but it keeps getting reset.
Trailer Tracks software assumes that a change to the SCAC performed at the terminal of an owned trailer was in error. Your company's original SCAC is resent to the terminal. Contact Customer Support to change your SCAC.

Terminals

My terminal isn't sending status updates.
You may not receive a trailer's status updates due to mechanical reasons (hardware) or settings in Trailer Tracks software. Possible hardware issues include a damaged or covered terminal, antenna, or a blown fuse. Possible software problems include incomplete or inaccurate configuration. Before contacting Customer Support, check the condition of the hardware and the trailer's configuration settings.
Under normal operation, if the trailer hasn't connected to a tractor for seven days or if the low voltage threshold is exceeded, the terminal hibernates to save the battery. The terminal wakes from hibernation when it's connected, at which time it sends a status update.

Receiving Information

Why aren't I getting new status reports and positions?
If you use integration and you have stopped retrieving transactions in your queue, the queue can fill up and end your data exchange link. Contact Customer Support immediately.
To receive a warning before the queue fills up, click Administration at the top of the page. Click the Integration tab, then click General Settings. Add one or more emergency contacts to receive high-priority notification when the number of queued transactions reaches a warning threshold or the queue becomes full.
I pinged the trailer, but it takes too long to get a response
Trailer settings specify how often a Trailer Tracks terminal "wakes up" to respond to status requests. In trailer details, click the Settings tab, then Mobile Unit, and look at the Unpowered wakeup interval. You can change the interval to wake up more often, but this drains your battery more quickly.
